Dear Customers,

We have recently received many tickets about Google services showing the wrong location while connected to an overseas node: Gemini says "your region is not supported", Google Search redirects to google.com.hk, the page footer shows a mainland-China city, YouTube or Google Play shows a China region, and so on.

To be clear: this is a Google location-judgment issue on the Google account side. It is not a problem with our node IP and not a VPN connection fault. Our exit IPs are located overseas as advertised (you can check any IP at iplocation.net).

Google does not decide your location from the IP address alone. It combines many signals: your Google account's activity history and account region, GPS / Wi-Fi / cell data on your device, browser time zone and language, and previously saved location data. Most of these live inside your Google account and device, so switching nodes does not change the result, and no VPN provider can force Google to correct it.

There is currently no reliable fix for this anywhere in the industry, and we have no fix on our side. Please do not expect a node change or a setting on our side to solve it.

Things you can try yourself (help in some cases, no guarantee):

  1. Visit google.com/ncr to stop the redirect to google.com.hk.
  2. Test in an incognito window without signing in to Google. If the region is then correct, the cause is your account or browser data, not the node.
  3. Ask Google to update your account region: policies.google.com/country-association-form
  4. Report the wrong location to Google: support.google.com/websearch/workflow/9308722
  5. Turn off device location services (GPS / Wi-Fi scanning) while using Google services.

Support will point you to this notice for this issue and will not run further diagnostics on it, since the cause is outside our service.

Thank you for your understanding.
